For a while BlueHippo Photography has been looking for a project that would help represent our style and showcase our skills and creativity. We were looking for a group of creative individuals that would give us the potential to work on an idea that could be used to present our business to Design and Advertising companies.
We were approached by Ivan who was looking to have his portrait taken to use for social media. In discussion with him we found out that he was a member of a vintage bike club. Ivan is part of a small group who meet up and bike in their tweed outfits and ride vintage bicycles.
We took his image in our studio on a cannon 5D mark4 with a EF 50mm f1.2 USM lens which allowed for a very shallow depth of field.
Ivan loved the images and we suggested that it would be interesting to set up outdoor shoot with a revenant backdrop to his vintage gear including his bike. Ivan was keen on this idea and said there were 4 others that dressed like him and would be interested in getting involved. Five people felt like a good number so the idea was agreed.
This weekend we are just taking Ivan to two locations for a trial run before we get the rest involved. We have secured access to Coldharbour Mill near Stroud and Norchard Railway Station in the Forest of Dean.
Both locations cannot supply a power source for outdoor portraits, with this in mind we have purchased a Phottix Pro Indra 500TTL Portable Studio Light to get the effect we want.
Watch this space.
Attached is our initial shoot of Ivan in our studio.
